- Export documentation
Before departure, export documents must be prepared, such as the Air Waybill (AWB), commercial invoice, packing list and - if applicable - certificates (e.g., phytosanitary or certificates of origin).
- Security checks
All air cargo shipments undergo inspections in accordance with EU Aviation Security guidelines. This may consist of X-ray examination or physical inspection. Only after approval may the cargo head for the aircraft.
- Export declaration
The shipper or forwarder files an export declaration with customs. This document confirms the export and is necessary for compliance and statistics.
- Customs clearance on arrival
Upon arrival in the destination country, customs clearance takes place. Customs authorities check that all documents are correct and that the goods meet local requirements. Any import duties, VAT or excise duties are calculated and paid.
- Clearance and on-carriage
After customs clearance, customs releases the goods. Then the onward transport by road or courier can be organized to deliver the shipment to the end customer.
