Driving bans on Holidays and Special Circumstances

For the transportation of goods exceeding the maximum permitted dimensions and weights (width 2.55 m, length 18.75/16.50 m, weight 44 tons for vehicle combinations with 5 or more axles), driving bans are in effect on the following holidays and in special circumstances:

  • January 1 - New Year's Day
  • Good Friday
  • Easter Monday
  • April 27 - King's Day
  • May 5 - Liberation Day
  • Ascension Day
  • Whit Monday
  • December 25 and 26 - Christmas

Road restrictions:

  • There are several road restrictions in the Netherlands that can affect traffic. These restrictions can vary depending on the location and type of road.

Weekend restrictions:

  • During the weekend, there is a specific driving ban for trucks with an allowable total weight over 7.5 tons. This ban is in effect between 10 p.m. on Friday and 10 p.m. on Sunday.

General Limitations:

  • In addition to weekend restrictions, there are general restrictions on truck traffic at certain times and places. For example, night driving bans and restrictions on national holidays.

Weather-related Limitations:

  • In adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rain or snow, specific restrictions may be in effect. These restrictions are designed to ensure road safety and may vary depending on current weather conditions.
