Driving bans on holidays and special circumstances

Sunday driving ban

Vehicles with an authorized total weight (own weight plus payload) of more than 7.5 tons are subject to a driving ban:

  • on Sundays and holidays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m;

and during the period from the weekend of June 27/28 to the weekend of September 5/6:

  • on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • on Sundays and holidays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Vacation ban

Driving is prohibited on certain roads (with heavy vacation traffic) during the vacation period, from June 15 to September 15:

  • on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • on Sundays and holidays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

These driving bans do not apply to:

  • auxiliary transports;
  • refrigerated transport of perishable goods;
  • transportation of fresh flowers;
  • combined transport:
  • to a rail or ferry terminal if the vehicle would be late due to the driving ban;
  • from a rail or ferry terminal to the nearest border if the vehicle is allowed to operate in that other country.

Waivers

For other urgent shipments, a waiver can be requested (preferably through a Slovenian client or intermediary).
