Cooperation between Rotterdam and Turkish family business leads to unique concept on Maasvlakte
Maasvlakte, October 4, 2019 - Logistics service provider Neele-Vat Logistics, together with its Turkish partner Arkem Chemicals, is launching a 22,000 m2 storage and distribution center for liquid cargo on the Maasvlakte: Rotterdam Blending & Filling. The new complex is specially equipped for the storage of both non-hazardous goods (merchant goods) and packaged hazardous substances and also offers a filling and blending station. The official opening will take place on October 4.
First filling station for repacking into smaller units on Maasvlakte
Unique to this storage and distribution center is the all-in-one concept. Rotterdam Blending & Filling offers one central location for filling, packaging and blending liquid chemical products as well as for their (refrigerated) storage and further distribution. As the first on the Maasvlakte, the complex has a filling station for repackaging liquid cargo supplied by tanker truck or tank container into smaller units. For example, into drums or the increasingly popular intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) of one thousand liters.
Both for hazardous (IMO) liquid cargo and non-hazardous cargo
Rotterdam Blending & Filling has a total area of 22,000 m2 and a storage capacity of 35,000 pallet spaces. A total of 12,500 m2 is suitable for merchandise goods; monitored with a sprinkler system. 6,000 m2 is equipped for the storage of packaged hazardous materials. In addition, 1,500 m2 is in use for indoor filling, packaging and mixing of liquid chemical products. The 3 compartments and the shipping zone - with a total of 9 docks - are monitored with a CO2 extinguishing system. In the complex the currently applicable regulations regarding safety and environment SEVESO III, BRZO 2015, PGS-15 standards are applied.
With this location on the Maasvlakte, Neele-Vat Logistics expands its services with packaging and repackaging of (liquid) chemicals. The mixing and filling capacity is 100,000 tons annually, partly new cargo for Rotterdam. Cuno Vat, managing director Neele-Vat Logistics: "The international cooperation in Rotterdam Blending & Filling not only strengthens our service portfolio but also Rotterdam's position in chemical logistics. A sector in which Antwerp has traditionally had a strong position."
Centrally located and multimodally accessible
The new complex at Madoerastraat 10 on the Maasvlakte is easily accessible by road, rail and water and is a stone's throw from high-frequency deep sea and short sea connections. Rotterdam Blending & Filling is also conveniently located to the A15 motorway, the Maasvlakte Plaza truck park, the existing distripark Maasvlakte and the freight railroad line between the Maasvlakte and the European hinterland.
