Bill of Lading (B/L)
The main transport document that acts as a receipt, contract of carriage and proof of ownership of the goods. Variants include Original B/L, Seaway Bill and Telex Release.
Commercial Invoice
The commercial invoice from the exporter to the importer. Contains details of goods, prices and terms of delivery (Incoterms).
Packing List
An overview of the contents of the shipment, including numbers, weights and dimensions per package. Indispensable for customs inspections.
Customs documents
- Export document (EX-A) - required when exporting outside the EU.
- EUR.1 or ATR certificate - for preferential trade agreements.
- Customs permits - depending on the nature of the goods.
Certificates (if applicable)
- Phytosanitary certificate - for plants and agricultural products.
- Health certificate - for meat, dairy or fish products.
- Halal or Kosher certificates - for specific markets.
- Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD) - required for ADR/IMDG goods.
Insurance documents
Proof of transport insurance to cover financial risks in case of damage or loss.
Letters of Credit / payment documents
Additional documents are required in international transactions via bank guarantees.
