Harmful gases can enter containers in a variety of ways. For example, they may have already been added to the container in the country of origin. Examples include substances such as methyl bromide and hydrogen phosphide. In addition, gases can come from products in containers that have not been degassed but still contain harmful substances.
It is also possible that these gases come from the packaging materials. Finally, harmful gases and vapors can also originate inside the container as a result of cargo leakage. In addition to our drive-in point at the Maasvlakte, it is also possible to perform gas measurements on site. At your location, at your customer's location or at various inland terminals.

Ocean freight is an attractive alternative for cargo that does not need to be shipped under great time constraints. But what if it does? What options are left then?

How do we do it?
Unloading with respiratory protection
If a container cannot be cleared of gas quickly enough or if goods are urgent (e.g. leaflets), we can take immediate action and unload the container with respiratory protection. This is possible at our Maasvlakte location, but can also be arranged in-country upon request.
Ventilated trailers
The Gasmeetstation has 10 of its own specially ventilated trailers, making it possible to tranship goods so that they can reach their final destination quickly. Depending on the substances and concentrations, different PPE can be used. Even high-risk flows can thus be delivered to the customer quickly and efficiently.
Physical checks
During a physical inspection (FYCO) at our terminal, the Gasmeetstation arranges the appointment with Customs and the gas measurement, so you do not have to worry about this. The Gasmeetstation also assists Customs with the inspection.
Fumigation / BMSB treatment
To prevent cargo in containers from being affected by mold or pests, it is possible to fumigate the container, also known as "fumigation. There are several types of treatments possible regarding pests. Depending on the type of cargo and the requirements of the recipient, a treatment can be selected.

The Gasmeetstation has the most advanced and modern degassing facilities. With access to specially developed degassing racks that can ventilate more than 96 containers simultaneously. Using specially developed 'suction nipples', containers can be degassed without opening them.

By registering your weighing in advance by e-mail, you can drop by at your convenience, within our wide opening hours. Besides weighing (export) containers, it is also possible to weigh a Flatrack or Open top with chains at the Gasmeetstation.
