Food & Feed Warehousing
Our people are specialists and handle food & feed goods on a daily basis. Storing these goods requires a number of certificates such as HACCP and GMP. More explanation about these certificates below. Besides food & feed goods, we also store ADR goods or normal trade goods.
The storage of food and feed products is a critical aspect of ensuring their safety, quality, and shelf life. Proper storage conditions are essential to prevent spoilage, contamination, and the growth of harmful microorganisms. Moreover, efficient storage practices can minimize waste and maximize the utilization of available resources. In agriculture and the food industry, there are various techniques and technologies employed to store food and feed products, depending on the type of product, storage duration, and the desired quality. This includes using different types of packaging, temperature and humidity control, and appropriate handling and transport. Ensuring proper storage of food and feed products is essential for maintaining a safe and secure food supply for human and animal consumption.
HACCP
The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP) is a globally acknowledged approach for ensuring the safety of food production and management. First developed in the Netherlands in 1996, the HACCP Certification Scheme has since been adopted by numerous food processing companies worldwide to produce and handle food safely, with its approach serving as a starting point.
Here are the HACCP certification requirements held by Neele-Vat:
- Identification of food safety hazards
- Identification of critical management points in the production process
- Determination of limit values for each critical management point
- Determination of monitoring and measurement (control) at the critical management points
- Determination of corrective actions when limits are exceeded
- Verification and validation that the system works and is complied with
- Preparation of documentation to meet the above requirements.
GMP
Some of the principles of GMP include:
- All raw materials and packaging materials are documented and must meet specific requirements (specifications).
- The quality of raw materials and finished products is tested.
- All procedures are documented in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or “working instructions,” and the production process of each batch is recorded in a batch preparation protocol.
- All personnel are qualified and trained for their duties, with responsibilities and tasks being documented.
- Factory and production conditions are designed and monitored to prevent contamination and errors.
- All changes in working instructions and any deviations from procedures followed are documented.
- The person ultimately responsible for the quality of the products is identified and must provide written confirmation that the documented procedures have been followed for each batch of medicine
SKAL
Skal Biocontrole ensures that organic products actually meet organic regulations. Skal is an independent organization that oversees organic production in the Netherlands. Organic production in the Netherlands has increased significantly in recent years. Currently, 4,000 farmers and other manufacturers are under Skal’s supervision. Organic products can be identified by the organic certification label.
Some of the conditions include:
- You store the products in your own company (including storage at home, garage or shed)
- You use a rented storage location. This location must be listed as a branch location on your Chamber of Commerce extract.
- You use another storage location. This company is certified for the storage of organic products.
