The European Commission is calling on member states to reduce oil consumption, especially diesel and jet fuel. According to European Commissioner Dan Jørgensen, reducing consumption is essential in light of current geopolitical tensions.
While there are no direct shortages of oil or gas, the Commission does see a clear tightening in specific markets, such as diesel and kerosene. The global gas market is also under increasing pressure.
The European Commission is advising member states to take measures along the lines of the International Energy Agency's (IEA) 10-point plan. These include working from home, using energy more efficiently and lowering speeds to reduce fuel consumption.
For the transport sector, these measures could have direct consequences. Slower speeds and stricter efficiency requirements affect lead times and schedules, while scarcity in the fuel market could lead to price increases and limited availability.
Neele-Vat has years of experience in optimizing transport flows under varying market conditions. Especially in situations where fuel use and efficiency are key, we actively steer for smarter use of transport capacity.
- bundle transport flows to reduce trips and fuel consumption
- optimize routes based on current conditions and costs;
- commit to intermodal solutions combining road transport with sea or rail transport;
- advises clients on more efficient scheduling to reduce the impact of measures such as speed reduction.
Through this specialized approach, Neele-Vat helps customers keep their logistics processes efficient and manageable even in the face of stricter energy requirements.
