Neele-Vat is expanding in Italy! The new office, headed by Fabio Di Blasi, will focus mainly on Air & Ocean activities.
Fabio is happy to introduce himself through this interview.
1. Can you tell us a little about your background and experience in the logistics industry?
I have an international background, having gained training and experience in various global contexts. My experience in the logistics sector is longstanding, partly because part of my family also operates in this industry.
During this period, I developed deep understanding of Asian markets and logistics dynamics. At the same time, I expanded my network and created synergies with various players in the industry.
During my career, I held various positions, most recently focusing on Mediterranean markets. There I was responsible for transportation and logistics operations. The last two years I worked in Spain, strengthening my expertise in international logistics.
These experiences gave me a strategic and operational vision. This allows me to tackle sector challenges in a constantly changing market with determination and efficiency.
2. What attracted you to Neele-Vat and what appeals to you most about leading the Italian office?
What attracted me to your company is its strong reputation and commitment to tailored road transport, efficiency and sustainability. The family business offers flexibility, loyalty and a more "human" approach to clients.
From my first interactions, I sensed a clear growth vision and commitment to operational excellence. These values align perfectly with my experience and strategic approach. The company's international reach and adaptability demonstrate resilience and progressive leadership.
Leading the Italian office is an exciting opportunity to add value and strengthen the brand locally. I want to implement strategies that improve both operational efficiencies and the customer experience.
As an Italian professional with an international background, I can foster cross-border collaborations. My experience helps connect the Italian market with the company's global network.
What appeals to me most is the opportunity to build something meaningful and drive growth. I accept this challenge with determination and want to make the Italian office a key figure within the global strategy.
3. Why was Italy chosen as the next strategic location for Neele-Vat?
The decision to open the Air & Ocean office in Italy came from the specific needs of existing customers. On the one hand, Italy is an important logistics hub thanks to its strategic location in the Mediterranean Sea. On the other hand, it acts as an essential bridge between Europe, Asia and Africa, making it a crucial gateway to international trade.
By establishing this facility, the company can not only make its supply chain more efficient, but also significantly strengthen its position in Southern Europe. Moreover, Italy offers one of the most export-oriented economies in Europe, creating additional growth opportunities.
In addition, Italy is the eighth largest economy in the world and the third largest within the European Union. Furthermore, the country has a strong industrial base, with sectors such as automotive, fashion, pharmaceutical, food and precision engineering. Since these industries rely heavily on international trade, logistics plays an essential role in their operations.
For this reason, the company positions itself not only as a strategic partner for Italian importers and exporters, but also as a player that benefits from Italy's strong infrastructure, skilled workforce and wide trade networks.
Also, Italy has a rich shipping history and is home to some of Europe's most important ports. As a result, the combination of economic resilience and continued investment in infrastructure provides an attractive market for further growth.
Finally, Italy is increasingly focusing on digitalization, green logistics and supply chain innovation. This means the company's strategy is perfectly aligned with this, laying a solid foundation for sustainable and scalable expansion.
4. What unique advantages does Italy offer in terms of ocean freight and global trade routes?
Italy is a crucial gateway for global trade and boasts some of the most strategically well-positioned and efficient ports in Europe, including Genoa, Trieste, La Spezia, Livorno, Venice and Naples. These ports not only handle a significant volume of cargo from Asia, the Middle East and the Americas, but also offer advanced infrastructure, deep-water facilities for large vessels and extensive intermodal connectivity. This allows for seamless integration with Europe's extensive rail and road network, enabling efficient cargo transportation across the continent.
Italy also plays a role in key international logistics corridors, including the Belt and Road Initiative, leading to continuous investment in port expansion, technological upgrades and sustainable initiatives, making the country a forward-looking logistics hub. In addition, Italy is leading the way in digital transformation within customs procedures, leading to shorter lead times and improved supply chain visibility - critical factors for companies seeking efficiency and cost optimization.
Moreover, Italy is committed to sustainable shipping practices, such as green ports and smart logistics solutions. The combination of strategic location, world-class infrastructure and a progressive approach to logistics innovation makes Italy not only an operational advantage, but an essential element in strengthening the global supply chain.
By leveraging these strengths, the company can gain a competitive advantage in international logistics and provide faster, more flexible and cost-effective transportation solutions to customers worldwide.
5. What logistics services will the Italian office focus on?
The Italian office, currently in the start-up phase, will tailor its service portfolio to market demand and strategic priorities. The initial focus will be on comprehensive freight forwarding solutions (sea, air and road transport), ensuring seamless global connectivity.
It also aims to develop customized supply chain solutions in the future, including warehousing, distribution and value-added services. This will focus on key sectors such as manufacturing, food and beverage, fashion, automotive and pharmaceuticals.
There will be a strong emphasis on digital innovation and operational efficiency, with the use of advanced tracking systems and real-time visibility tools to enhance reliability. Sustainability is also a priority, with a commitment to environmentally friendly logistics solutions that align with Italy's growing focus on green supply chains.
As the company grows, its service offerings will continuously evolve, leveraging its global expertise to provide efficient and flexible logistics solutions that match market demand.

8. What are the biggest challenges in setting up a new office in Italy and how are they addressed?
Setting up a new office and establishing a strong brand in a competitive market is always a challenge. Italy has a dynamic business environment with many established players, so differentiation requires constant effort. We meet this challenge by focusing on customized solutions, high-quality service and a strong customer focus.
Another challenge is identifying the right partners and suppliers for our logistics operations. Although Italy's logistics infrastructure is well developed, selecting reliable partners is crucial to maintaining high service standards. We address this by conducting a thorough selection process and building long-term partnerships with reliable local suppliers.
Finally, there is the challenge of understanding local regulations. Although Italy offers a well-developed business framework, knowledge of and compliance with local tax laws and industry-specific regulations is essential. This is addressed by working with experienced legal and tax advisors to ensure smooth integration into the Italian market and compliance with all regulations.
We are convinced that with the right approach we can successfully overcome these challenges and ensure the long-term success of our office in Italy.
