Neele-Vat is expanding into Italy! The new office, led by Fabio Di Blasi, will focus primarily on Air & Ocean operations.
Fabio would like to introduce himself through this interview.
1. Can you tell us a little about your background and experience in the logistics sector?
I have an international background, having gained training and experience in various global contexts. My experience in the logistics sector is extensive, partly because some of my family members are also active in this industry.
During this period, I developed in-depth insight into Asian markets and logistics dynamics. At the same time, I expanded my network and created synergies with various players in the sector.
Throughout my career, I have held various positions, with a recent focus on Mediterranean markets. There, I was responsible for transportation and logistics operations. For the past two years, I have worked in Spain and strengthened my expertise in international logistics.
These experiences have given me a strategic and operational perspective. As a result, I am able to address industry challenges in a constantly changing market with determination and efficiency.
2. What attracted you to Neele-Vat , and what appeals to you most about leading the Italian office?
What attracted me to your company is its strong reputation and commitment to tailored road transport, efficiency, and sustainability. The family-owned business offers flexibility, loyalty, and a more “human” approach to customers.
From my very first interactions, I sensed a clear vision for growth and a commitment to operational excellence. These values align perfectly with my experience and strategic approach. The company’s international reach and adaptability demonstrate resilience and forward-thinking leadership.
Leading the Italian office is an exciting opportunity to add value and strengthen the brand locally. I want to implement strategies that improve both operational efficiency and the customer experience.
As an Italian professional with an international background, I can facilitate cross-border collaborations. My experience helps connect the Italian market with the company’s global network.
What appeals to me most is the opportunity to build something meaningful and drive growth. I am taking on this challenge with determination and aim to make the Italian office a key player within the global strategy.
3. Why was Italy chosen as the next strategic location for Neele-Vat?
The decision to open the Air & Ocean office in Italy stemmed from the specific needs of existing customers. On the one hand, Italy is a major logistics hub thanks to its strategic location in the Mediterranean. On the other hand, it serves as an essential bridge between Europe, Asia, and Africa, making it a crucial gateway to international trade.
By establishing this facility, the company can not only make the supply chain more efficient but also significantly strengthen its position in Southern Europe. Furthermore, Italy has one of the most export-oriented economies in Europe, creating additional growth opportunities.
In addition, Italy is the eighth-largest economy in the world and the third-largest within the European Union. Furthermore, the country has a strong industrial base, with sectors such as automotive, fashion, pharmaceuticals, food, and precision engineering. Since these industries are heavily dependent on international trade, logistics plays an essential role in their operations.
For this reason, the company positions itself not only as a strategic partner for Italian importers and exporters but also as a player that benefits from Italy’s strong infrastructure, skilled workforce, and extensive trade networks.
Furthermore, Italy has a rich maritime history and is home to some of Europe’s most important ports. As a result, the combination of economic resilience and ongoing investments in infrastructure offers an attractive market for further growth.
Finally, Italy is increasingly focusing on digitization, green logistics, and supply chain innovation. This means that the company’s strategy aligns perfectly with these trends, laying a solid foundation for sustainable and scalable expansion.
4. What unique advantages does Italy offer in terms of ocean freight and global trade routes?
Italy is a crucial gateway for global trade and boasts some of Europe’s most strategically positioned and efficient ports, including Genoa, Trieste, La Spezia, Livorno, Venice, and Naples. These ports not only handle a significant volume of cargo from Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas, but also offer advanced infrastructure, deep-water facilities for large vessels, and extensive intermodal connectivity. This ensures seamless integration with Europe’s extensive rail and road networks, enabling efficient freight transport across the continent.
Italy also plays a role in key international logistics corridors, including the Belt and Road Initiative, leading to continuous investments in port expansion, technological upgrades, and sustainable initiatives, thereby positioning the country as a forward-looking logistics hub. In addition, Italy is at the forefront of digital transformation in customs procedures, leading to shorter turnaround times and improved visibility into the supply chain—crucial factors for companies striving for efficiency and cost optimization.
Furthermore, Italy is committed to sustainable shipping practices, such as green ports and smart logistics solutions. The combination of a strategic location, world-class infrastructure, and a progressive approach to logistics innovation makes Italy not only an operational advantage but an essential element in strengthening the global supply chain.
By leveraging these strengths, the company can gain a competitive advantage in international logistics and offer faster, more flexible, and more cost-effective transportation solutions to customers worldwide.
5. What logistics services will the Italian office focus on?
The Italian office, which is currently in the start-up phase, will tailor its service portfolio to market demand and strategic priorities. The initial focus will be on comprehensive freight forwarding solutions (sea, air, and road transport), ensuring seamless global connectivity.
In addition, the goal is to develop customized supply chain solutions in the future, including warehousing, distribution, and value-added services. This will focus on key sectors such as manufacturing, food and beverages, fashion, automotive, and pharmaceuticals.
There will be a strong emphasis on digital innovation and operational efficiency, utilizing advanced tracking systems and real-time visibility tools to enhance reliability. Sustainability is also a priority, with a commitment to environmentally friendly logistics solutions that align with Italy’s growing focus on green supply chains.
As the company grows, its service offering will continue to evolve, leveraging the company’s global expertise to provide efficient and flexible logistics solutions that meet market demand.

Customers also benefit from industry expertise and innovative logistics solutions, such as customized transport solutions, multimodal transportation and advanced supply chain visibility tools. This increases operational efficiency and responds to the specific challenges of the Italian market.
Furthermore, a local presence enhances the ability to form strategic partnerships with both local and international parties. This ensures smooth cross-border trade and compliance with changing regulations, leading to greater flexibility, lower costs, and improved logistics efficiency for customers.
7. Which sectors or companies can benefit most from this new office?
Italy’s position in international trade offers significant advantages to various sectors thanks to the new office:
In addition, e-commerce, high-tech industries, and companies in international trade will benefit from the company’s global reach and digital logistics solutions.

8. What are the biggest challenges in setting up a new office in Italy, and how are they addressed?
Setting up a new office and establishing a strong brand in a competitive market is always a challenge. Italy has a dynamic business environment with many established players, which means that differentiation requires a continuous effort. We address this challenge by focusing on customized solutions, high-quality service, and a strong customer-centric approach.
Another challenge is identifying the right partners and suppliers for our logistics operations. Although Italy’s logistics infrastructure is well-developed, selecting reliable partners is crucial for maintaining high service standards. We address this by conducting a thorough selection process and building long-term partnerships with reliable local suppliers.
Finally, there is the challenge of thoroughly understanding local regulations. Although Italy offers a well-developed business framework, knowledge of and compliance with local tax laws and sector-specific regulations are essential. This is addressed by collaborating with experienced legal and tax advisors to ensure a smooth integration into the Italian market and full compliance with all regulations.
We are confident that, with the right approach, we can successfully overcome these challenges and ensure the long-term success of our office in Italy.
9. What opportunities does Neele-Vat see in the Italian market for the coming years?
The Italian market offers significant growth opportunities thanks to its strategic location within European and global trade. This makes Italy a crucial logistics hub with access to both European and Mediterranean markets.
Ongoing investments in infrastructure, particularly in transportation and logistics, create opportunities for companies that offer efficient and cost-effective solutions.
Key industry sectors, including mechanical engineering, automotive, food & beverage and fashion, remain global leaders and require advanced, time-critical logistics solutions. The pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors also present opportunities, with growing demand for specialized logistics services, such as temperature-controlled solutions and regulatory compliance.
