Neele-Vat is continuing to invest in intermodal transport. In addition to its existing fleet of 160 swap bodies and 20 P385 curtain-sided trailers, Neele-Vat has put the first 10 Krone huckepack trailers into service. The trailers will primarily be used for intermodal transport by rail between Rotterdam and Brescia, Italy.
"Brescia is an excellent intermodal hub for our company, just behind the Gotthard Tunnel, and we are convinced that we can further expand our flows on this route," said Peter Vinke, director of transport at Neele-Vat. "In addition to our extensive European road transport services, we see more and more cargo being booked by rail. It is therefore important for us to significantly expand our capacity and this investment is a first step to that end."
Neele-Vat is a versatile family-owned logistics company that generates sales of more than 250 million euros as a full-service international logistics service provider with 600 employees. Customers come from the food, retail and feed sectors. Neele-Vat has seven branches in the Netherlands, all at or near logistics hotspots. Outside the Netherlands, Neele-Vat is represented in Belgium, Finland, Poland, Italy, Romania, China and Russia.
The company's growth is further marked by the realization in the very near future of a brand new headquarters including a state-of-the-art 45000 m2 distribution center in the Rotterdam port area. The new headquarters will be realized at a beautiful sight location in the Port Park Pernis, near the container terminals of the Eemhaven and Waalhaven and near the intersection of the A4 and A15 highways.
"We chose Krone because we are satisfied with the approximately 120 swap bodies that meet our requirements regarding rail transport just fine," says Business Unit Manager Italy Rene van Berkel, "so we are confident that these trailers will also do well." Krone proved to be able to supply the right trailer for this deployment. The sliding tarpaulin trailers are equipped with side flaps and have an advanced load securing system. The new trailers are on Krone's own-brand axles and are equipped with drum brakes.
