Logistics service provider Neele-Vat joins forces with Turkish Arkem Chemicals to start a project on the Maasvlakte

The Maasvlakte project will have an area of 22,000 square meters on one of the last available plots at the Distripark. The center is intended for storage and distribution of both hazardous (IMO) and non-hazardous liquid cargo and will be the first on the Maasvlakte to have a "filling station. That will have four lines to repackage liquid cargo delivered by tanker or tank container into smaller units, such as drums and the increasingly popular 1,000-liter intermediate bulk containers (ibc's).

According to top executive Cuno Vat, the Maasvlakte project is a boost for Rotterdam's position in chemical logistics, in which Antwerp traditionally has a strong position. He estimates the investment at fifteen to twenty million euros and expects the project to be good for some 25 new jobs. About a third of the area is intended for IMO cargo, the rest for non-hazardous cargo. 75,000 to 100,000 cargoes are expected to pass through the complex annually, some for Rotterdam new cargo.
