What is REX?

REX stands for Registered Exporter.
It is a system that allows exporters within the EU to self-certify the origin of their goods under preferential trade agreements.

By issuing a declaration of origin, your customers can benefit from reduced or zero import duties, making your products more competitive in international markets.

Who should use it?

If you export goods under preferential trade agreements and want to claim preferential origin, you must be registered in the REX system.

Obtaining an REX number is easy and requires only a one-time registration form.

After registration, however, you are fully responsible for correctly applying the rules of origin and preserving supporting evidence.

Errors in statements of origin can lead to audits, duty drawback, fines or even suspension of your REX registration.

Customs authorities are increasingly conducting follow-up checks to verify the accuracy of statements of origin.

Irregularities may result in withdrawal of preferential benefits, recoveries and suspension of your REX number.

Several new trade agreements came into effect in 2025, including with Chile and Mexico.
