Usage / Application EORI number

With the approaching Brexit, whose entry is listed for March 29, 2019, there will most likely be a change in the transportation process. The United Kingdom is leaving the European Union, which means that transport to and from the United Kingdom (import and export) will require customs negotiations in the form of the creation of import and export documents.

Within Neele-Vat we have been busy preparing for the Brexit for some time now. Here, we are mainly looking at how we can soon arrange a fast and proper handling of the necessary documents and clearance for your shipments to and from the United Kingdom. Our customs department currently consists of 23 specialists who prepare approximately 120,000 documents per year for our own customers and third parties. This is all done automatically and we want this to work for your shipments to the United Kingdom in the near future.

One of the things this requires is for a company to be in possession of an EORI number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification). This is because it is compulsory to use the EORI number in all customs operations as an identification number in the data exchange with Dutch Customs.

With the EORI number, economic operators are identified in the same way by Customs in all member states. This provides efficiency benefits for both economic operators and Customs, because the EORI number ensures, among other things, that data can be exchanged more quickly within the EU.
Branches do not get their own EORI number, but use the number of the headquarters.
