Driving bans on Holidays and Special Circumstances
For the transportation of goods exceeding the maximum permitted dimensions and weights (width 2.55 m, length 18.75/16.50 m, weight 44 tons for vehicle combinations with 5 or more axles), driving bans are in effect on the following holidays and in special circumstances:
January 1 - New Year's Day
Jan. 2 - Day after the New Year
Jan. 24 - Day of Unity
Easter Monday
May 1 - Labor Day
Whit Monday
Dec. 1 - Great Union Day
Dec. 25 and 26 (Christmas)
Driving bans on holidays and weekends:
Throughout the year on public holidays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., as well as on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the day, there is a driving ban on specific sections of the E60/N1
Between Bucharest and Ploiesti for vehicles with a maximum authorized mass exceeding 3.5 tons.
Between Ploiesti and Brasov for vehicles with a maximum authorized mass exceeding 7.5 tons.
Vacation bans:
From June 15 to September 15, driving is prohibited on all E roads on Saturdays and Sundays, usually from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on some stretches from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. This applies to vehicles with a maximum authorized mass exceeding 7.5 tons.
Bucharest:
The city of Bucharest has a daytime driving ban on most vehicles. The city is divided into Zone A and Zone B, with both zones banning vehicles over 5 tons. The driving ban is in effect from July 1 to Aug. 31 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and from Sept. 1 to June 30 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
