Driving bans and accessibility
In the United Kingdom, there is no general driving ban on Sundays and public holidays for freight traffic. In London, however, there is a specific night and weekend driving ban for vehicles with a maximum authorized mass of more than 18 tons. This ban applies to most of the roads within London:
Monday to Friday: 21:00 - 07:00 hours
Saturday: 13:00 hours to Monday 07:00 hours
Special circumstances
For vehicles that still need to drive in London during the above time slots, a waiver can be applied for through the Association of London Government (Lorry Control Team). Waivers are granted, for example, for necessary transports such as loading and unloading perishable goods. Prior application and approval are required to avoid fines and delays.

Full truckloads (FTL) reach their destination in an average of two to three business days, less-than-truckloads (LTL) in three business days, and groupage shipments in three to four business days, calculated from departure to delivery in each case. The fact that delivery to the United Kingdom takes slightly longer than the distance of approximately 430 kilometers would suggest is because every shipment has been subject to customs clearance since Brexit: both an export declaration in the Netherlands and an import declaration in the United Kingdom are required, and the goods cross the English Channel by ferry or through the Eurotunnel. Our in-house customs experts handle these formalities to ensure your shipment isn’t unnecessarily held up at the border.
