Mission for the FIA International WRX

Today (08-02-2017) we loaded a test car for the FIA International WRX. This car will soon leave by ship for Cape Town, South Africa. A special destination, as a WRX race will be held there for the first time this year. The teams are eager to explore the new circuit and test their cars there extensively.

The test sessions will take place at Killarney International Raceway, a challenging and technical 1.07-kilometer circuit. What makes the circuit unique is that as much as 40% of it consists of gravel, resulting in spectacular races full of sliding turns, clouds of dust, and surprising maneuvers. The drivers will officially kick off the season here on November 10, 2017. Until then, they can make the most of their test days and fine-tune their vehicles for this specific track surface.

What is Rallycross?

Rallycross is an exciting and explosive branch of motorsports that combines speed, agility and strategy. The sport is a combination of rallying and track racing. Drivers compete directly against each other in short, intense races - often in a compact stadium-like setting where the audience is close to the action.

The races take place on tracks with a mix of asphalt and unpaved terrain, which adds to the challenge. The cars driven - the so-called RX Supercars - are true powerhouses. These vehicles boast more than 600 horsepower and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds. By comparison, that's even faster than a Formula 1 car!

The WRX has quickly become a popular and spectacular racing class that is attracting more and more fans worldwide. We are therefore proud to contribute our part to this international racing experience!
